Mala Making Workshop

In this mala making workshop, Julia will walk you through creating your own wood and crystal bead mala. Mala, Sanskrit for “Garland,” is more than a necklace. For thousands of years, they have been used as a tool for mindfulness during mediation. In the Sanskrit alphabet, there are 54 letters and each has a Shiva (masculine) and Shakti (feminine) variation so 54 x 2 equals 108. For this reason, malas typically have 108 beads — an auspicious number representing peace, harmony & spiritual fulfillment. At the end of the workshop, Julia will lead the group in a meditation to cleanse, charge and set intentions with your mala. Materials are included to create one wood and crystal beaded mala with a suede or silk tassel. We will provide chairs, tables and hot tea.
